Bayou Bridge Pipeline, St. James Evacuation Route

Bayou Bridge Pipeline, St. James Evacuation Route

We understand there are many opinions on energy infrastructure projects such as ours, and respect the rights of all Americans to voice these opinions, however, the fact remains that pipelines are the most environmentally friendly and safest way to transport the oil and natural gas our country uses every day.

Regarding St. James, the safety of all residents along any of our right-of-ways is always a top priority. We understand that an evacuation route is something that the St. James community has been discussing for some time; long before our pipeline. It is important to note that this is a much broader issue for this community, including the impact of hurricanes on the area. The planning of evacuation routes is best left to the local emergency response department. For a status on this process, I suggest you contact St. James directly.

Specific to the Bayou Bridge Pipeline, it does not cross the public roadway in or out of the St. James Parish community, contrary to the claims of some who are opposed to the project.

On the broader issue of pipeline safety, we have met with the St. James emergency response department, and we are in the process of meeting with all of the emergency response departments along the entire route. We will continue to do so on annual basis to ensure they have the most up-to-date information and training on how to respond in the unlikely event there is an incident on this pipeline.
